I can't / don't want to afford a lengthy vacation this year, so I was contemplating getting one of those cheap early-morning flights into Stansted, spend the day in near-by Bishop's Strotford (which seems reasonably large enough) to visit a few book shops, get some curry sauces from a supermarket (a whole box maybe?), and roam around the town for some culture - only to fly back on the same day, late in the evening.
Decadent, eh? ![]()
A round-trip ticket only costs € 69.- (ca. £ 50.-), plus a bus ticket from and to Stansted, and the drive to and from the home airport. A lot cheaper than staying overnight somewhere!
Haven't made up my mind yet whether I'll go through with it, but it's tempting ...

it is? Why? Actually, I don't know Bishops Strotford, so I can't comment. But UK would not be my first choice. How about Marrakesh? or Amsterdam?
