For ages I've been looking for that billionaire who wants to marry me. Just haven't been lucky so far. *dang* ~~Hmmmm ... I wonder why?~~

An office in our building bought a new office camera recently, the Sony Alpha 350.
Nice little toy, I must admit. Much better than my Canon which always seems to make slightly fuzzy photos (Canon takes softer photos as a principle). I'd love to have this new toy, too, but it costs around 600 Euros (must be somewhere around 400 Pounds).

Anyway, I can't afford anything at the moment as I'm still paying off the loan for my apartment AND another loan for my car, so I have to be a bit careful with my spending. But at least the apartment is paid off next year, and the car in 2012.

About two weeks ago I realized that I REALLY must renovate my bathroom soon - but I hope I can put that off till next year.

It's a small bathroom but hasn't had any work done on it for at least 20 years. The previous owner had already put tiles on top of the original tiles, so when I renovate I need to take off two layers of tiles and have the walls rough-casted again.
The water tank sounds as if it's about to start leaking again. Normally all I'd need is one of those rubber sealing gaskets (or whatever they're called in English), but the water tank is so old that I can't find any spare parts anymore. And to make matters worse, it's one of those that's fitted INTO the wall, with tiles covering it.

And the small faucet to which my washing machine is connected (in the bathroom) also leaks at the "opener" (I have no idea what that part is called, not even in German).

I'm estimating total expenses of around 12,000 to 15,000 Euros (ca. 8,000 to 10,000 Pounds??) which I just can't afford ...

*SIGH*

I'm sure you see why I really can't afford to spend any money, and have to save as much as I can.

So I just bought the Sony A350 last Friday

YAY!! *does mad dance*

Bought it online (50 Euros cheaper) and ought to hold it in my hands hopefully by this Friday! If so, I'll take leave next week to take lots and lots of photos ...

    Good link, incidentally. Yeah, the camera is really nice, I've seen the photos it takes, and I really like the "variable angle LCD screen" (what an expression). It comes in really handy when you need to take photos over the heads of others (only applies to short people *cough* ) or when you're taking macros somewhere down at ground-level.
    
    Sony's compatible with Nikon lenses, BTW.

You only live once AL, so whatever makes you happy, just do it. By the time you finish paying for your car, you'll need a new one, well that's what usually happens to us anyway, although we did get an extra couple of years out of the last car. Your washing machine connections. If the problem is the hot tap connection ( usually has red around it, blue is the cold water tap) just switch it off, as I doubt your machine will take in any hot water, as most machines only use cold, and heat it up themselves. If it's the cold, it might be a rubber "O" ring, or gasket that's gone. Check both connections, and see if there is a difference, if so, that's your problem, unless both are leaking?

  Yes, what you've described about your car usually happens to me too *sigh*. Plus, every time I spent a bit of money some other expense suddenly pops up, like crowns for my teeth, reading glasses (which I will need within the next five years), some repair or other ...
  
  Thanks for the tips. It is a cold-water faucet, just as you suspected, and I might need to take a photo of where it drips from, I find it hard to explain. It's from the "turner" (for lack of a better / correct word) with which you turn the water on.

    I think you can get tubes of sealer, that will seal it for you, they come in a tube, like toothpaste, or superglue. Make sure you switch the cold water main tap off before doing anything, and if you get the sealer, make sure there is no excess water before applying sealant, basically it's gotta be dry. I can't remember all the correct terminology either. These things are sent to test us AL, I very often fail these tests. In my original comment I was trying to tell you to look at where your leak is, right, you've found it, now look at the other tap, and see what that has more than the other tap, if you follow this. You should have a leaky tap and a non-leaky tap, look at the difference. You can always call a plumber, but it's just something like a gasket or rubber "O" ring. Good Luck ....

ive just had to have my nikon lens fixed for £50! it broke when the camera fell while doing a self-timed group photo. i thought to myself"surely i can get a new camera for that anmmount on the met?";(.

anyway, unless the renovations are quite essential why bother? save your pennies and do things you really love or go out and get the billionaire...you'll get a spnking new apartment
