Captain's photo challenge

I found it really REALLY difficult to select only one photo as there are so many stunningly beautiful photos on the web.

Neither photo was taken by me but were found on the web and are two of my favourites.

I love the colours in this photo, the composition, everything.

Oh, and can I post another one?

Ok, so I just did.
Edit at 10:03: I've just changed the second photo because I find this "new" one even more fascinating!

Love this second photo because it's simply ingenious! Can you find out how it was done? Obviously, the photographer couldn't capture it in flight ...

Oh, and I have about 100 more that I really love, but these two will have to do for now

That's a spooky coincidence - I tried to take a picture exactly like that lower one yesterday! I noticed the thingies were blowing off so I went and got my camera and waited, but it didn't happen again (not until I got bored anyway).

  I don't think it was mentioned on the site where I found both. There's one guy posting from Sweden, many from Switzerland, Austria and northern Italy, so it could be from any of those places.
